(Time gains may not be fully realized If you miss opportunities in the setup, and there's also a possibility that you may not make the car as stable or fast as the coach setup) Tune the car to your driving style to increase stability and performance a bit, and make yourself more confident driving it, then your driving gets better in the car and you gain speed and time.

The value with setting up the car is usually increased comfort and confidence plus increased performance from reduction of drag, increase in grip or, increased cornering capability.

I think downloading a good simracing setup "cheat sheet" is probably better than paying for setups in the long run because you'll learn how to tame misbehaviors in the car and become more intuitive about what's actually happening when things go wrong. Just my opinion and I'm wrong about lots of things. If that's the case, then why do they exist in ACC? I have more practicing to do anyway since I still need to tweak my setups.įinally, as a few commenters pointed out below, I didn't realize that tire OMI values don't mean anything in the terms of added grip or increased tire wear. I guess my "issue" is people just passing by me in corners as if I didn't exist, whereas I'm doing what I can to hold on while managing my pain. I have no problems with my lap times being lower due to my physical limitations. I can use accelerator/brake like a "normal" car, but heel toe is a real challenge. I'm trying to learn heel toe and it's been a major uphill battle because my right knee gives out after about 30 minutes of doing it.

Yes, I have a bum leg and can't trail brake. What's the purpose of using the coaching setups other than exploiting game mechanics to win?Īlso, do people use these setups in higher SA rated servers? My SA is at 57 and slowly going up.ĮDIT: Thank you all for the responses! This is quite an interesting subject to me. I took a couple hours perfecting each setup for my car and driving style so the tire temps are even across the board and the car's stability suits me. It doesn't care one bit about tire heat, tire wear, or general stability of the car. I looked at one of these coach setups and it's basically setting the car up to take the turns easily by cranking the camber, toe, and caster. When asked, they always say that they get their setup from a coach. I've been starting to play online and noticed that there's some people out there with blisteringly fast times.2 seconds faster than me (or more).
